What Is EVO ICL?

EVO ICL (Implantable Collamer Lens) is a revolutionary vision correction procedure that works with your eye rather than altering it. A biocompatible lens is placed behind your iris and in front of your natural lens, correcting your vision with minimal alteration to your natural cornea.

Made from Collamer — a proprietary material containing collagen — the EVO ICL is designed to work in harmony with your eye's natural chemistry. Unlike LASIK, nothing is removed from your eye, making EVO ICL a truly additive and reversible procedure.

EVO ICL has been implanted in over 4 million eyes worldwide and is FDA-approved for treating:

  • Myopia (nearsightedness) from -3.0 to -20.0 diopters
  • Astigmatism up to 6.0 diopters
  • • Patients between 21 and 60 years of age

The Advantages of EVO ICL

EVO ICL offers unique benefits that make it the ideal choice for many patients who aren't candidates for LASIK.

🔄

Completely Removable

Unlike LASIK, EVO ICL can be removed or replaced if needed. Your cornea remains its natural shape, preserving future treatment options.

💧

No Increased Dry Eye Risk

Because no corneal tissue is removed, EVO ICL doesn't disrupt the nerves that control tear production — ideal for dry eye sufferers.

📏

High Prescriptions Welcome

EVO ICL effectively treats or reduces severe myopia up to -20.0 diopters — far beyond what LASIK can safely correct.

🛡️

Built-In UV Protection

The Collamer material naturally blocks harmful UVA and UVB rays, providing an extra layer of protection for your eyes.

👁️

Thin Cornea Solution

No corneal tissue is removed, making EVO ICL perfect for patients with thin corneas who don't qualify for LASIK.

Superior Visual Quality

Many patients report sharper, crisper vision than they ever achieved with glasses or contacts, with excellent night vision.

How EVO ICL Surgery Works

EVO ICL is a quick outpatient procedure with minimal downtime. Here's what to expect:

1

Comprehensive Evaluation

Your surgeon performs detailed measurements of your eye, including corneal thickness, anterior chamber depth, full eye exam and complete health history to maximize chances of precise lens sizing.

2

Custom Lens Ordering

Your personalized EVO ICL is ordered. Rarely, a custom lens must be manufactured to your exact specifications which can take 8 weeks to arrive from the manufacturer.

3

Day of Procedure

On the day of surgery, topical anesthetic drops numb your eye completely. You'll be awake but comfortable throughout the procedure.

4

Your Eye is Prepped

The team will prepare your eyes with a cleaning solution and cover the area with a sterile drape. We will help you keep your eye open with a gentle supporter and you can talk if needed.

5

Lens Implantation

The flexible EVO ICL is folded and gently inserted through the incision. Once inside, it unfolds and is positioned behind your iris, in front of your natural lens.

6

Immediate Results

Most patients notice dramatically improved vision within hours. The incision heals rapidly, and you'll return for a follow-up the next day.
